Several members of Mother Art also participate in The Artists Formerly Known As Women, a collaborative of feminist eco-artists chiefly focused on water issues. Our first concern was with the waste of water and plastic in single use water bottles. Our first collaboration, in 2006, was an 8’ tall water fountain made of recycled water bottles. We made it in sections so we could take it apart and ship it to New York for “The Drop” at Exit Art.
Our group still works together from time to time. Our nickname is “The Formerlies.” Current members are Karen Schwenkmeyer, Suzanne Siegel, Laura Silagi, Deborah Krall, Monica Chao.
